Listen to the Gottschalk Music Center Concert Band playing Lincolnshire Posey.
The Gottschalk Music Center Concert Band is a group of dedicated musicians who share a love of wind band music. Formed in 1989, the Band has performed at the Golden Gate Park Band Festival in San Francisco, the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans, and the New York Wind Band Festival in New York City at Carnegie Hall in addition to numerous concert venues throughout California’s Central Valley.
Based in Modesto, the Band performed at the opening of the Gallo Center for the Arts and is sponsored by Gottschalk Music Center, which has been in Modesto since 1951. The Band plays year round and has performed the annual Christmas Concert at St. Josephs Church and the First United Methodist Church, the Winds in Spring Instrumental Festivals, and several Concerts in the Park events and authentic Sousa Concerts.
The conductor and originator of the Band, Ernesto E. Bucio, conducted every concert since 1989, until his death in 2011. The Band is carrying on in his tradition with a dedication to quality concert band literature under the direction of Matthew Cover and Ulices Chavez.
For members of the Ripon Arts League, the highlight of any concert season is an evening of concert band music. The Gottschalk Music Center Concert Band has been one of those highlight performances. The group performs a wide range of music coupled with an intimate connection with the audience throughout the evening. There is a lot of toe tapping and head bobbing going on as the band moves through its program of music. The band is high on our list of requests for a return engagement.Leo Zuber
